Why the Classical Method?

The goal of Lux Vera Classical Homeschool Academy, like Proverbs explains, is to model education that begins with knowledge, grows to understanding, and results in wisdom for students and parents. As Dorothy Sayers describes in her book, The Lost Tools of Learning, our program agrees that, “Classical education seeks to teach the tools of learning; the love of learning; and the love of truth, goodness, and beauty.” The classical method of education complements the God-given way that our students naturally learn.

Suggested Reading on the Classical Method:

  • The Lost Tools of Learning by Dorothy Sayers

  • An Introduction to Classical Education: A Guide for Parents by Christopher A. Perrin

  • Teaching the Trivium: Christian Homeschooling in a Classical Style by Harvey & Laurie Bluedorn

To model for families how to honor and follow God through the task of homeschooling. Through mentorship, discipleship, and fellowship,  we will use God’s Word, educational materials, and the culture of our community to equip parents to successfully live out their spiritual calling to homeschool. The program offers curated materials in order to provide excellence in academics, allowing students and parents to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
